Mouse bone marrow lineage positive cells were depleted with antibodies against CD3, CD4, CD8, Gr-1, CD19, and B220/CD45RA (Invitrogen, Caltag Laboratories) using magnetic beads (Dynal Biotech ASA, Oslo, Norway). After depletion, cells were stained for the following markers: Sca-1, CD34, FcgR (Fc gamma receptors) II/III, and c-Kit (BD Biosciences PharMingen, San Diego, CA). Finally, cells were resuspended in 1?PBS with 2% heat-inactivated FBS and 1 µg/ml PI and then analyzed or sorted using MoFlo cell sorter (Dako, Fort Collins, Colorado). The cell surface marker Sca-1, obtained as a biotin-conjugate, was visualized using a streptavidin-APC-CY7 antibody
